RIDING WITH A PURPOSE

BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD RIDE ALONE

CANCER SUCKS.

There's no way to say it politely.

This insidious disease strikes without mercy and brings even the mightiest to their knees. While we can't claim to be actually curing cancer we know that through our fundraising efforts we are helping The Snowdome Foundation funded scientists and doctors to research better treatments and ultimately a cure.

What started as a ride amongst friends fifteen years ago has become a worldwide community of cyclists who honor lost loved ones and help those in need by raising millions of dollars in Europe, California, Australia & New Zealand and Patagonia.

Riding a bike for eight hours a day is a painful and demanding experience but is nothing compared to the physical, mental and emotional pain that cancer patients and their families endure on a weekly basis.

Our small amount of suffering is offered in exchange for a small amount of hope and a belief that we can make a difference.

FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER, WE RIDE.

The FireFlies Tour was established in 2001 by Sandy Watson Scott (then Head of TV, M&C Saatchi London) in recognition of relatives’ and friends’ battles with Cancer. Five friends – Jake Scott, Adrian Moat, Nick Livesey , Tim Page and Chris Haworth – cycled from Geneva to Cannes, to join fellow industry professionals at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival, but more importantly to raise money for a leukaemia charity.

Over the last 17 years the ride has grown to hundreds of riders from around the world who have made the challenging journey from Geneva to Cannes across the high Alps — raising a total of more than AUD$3 million for Leukaemia research and treatment.

The FireFlies West (San Francisco - Los Angeles) is now in its eleventh year, taking on the coast of California in benefit of Leukemia research at City of Hope treatment centre.

After completing The FireFlies Tour in 2013, Wilf Sweetland, CEO of The Sweet Shop, brought the tour to Australia and New Zealand in support of The Snowdome Foundation with riders completing the inaugural tour from Christchurch to Queenstown in February 2015, followed by a circumnavigation of Tasmania in 2017.

For all PR and sponsorship enquiries, please contact Wilf Sweetland at The Sweet Shop.
